All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16 NLT

I’m glad Lot is in the Bible. He is listed as righteous, though obviously he was not perfect. If God could save him, then God can also save me. 😊
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
2 Peter 2:4-10 NKJV

In Genesis 13 Abram and his nephew Lot go their separate ways. They were too rich to live together. The land could not support both of them dwelling together. Later, Abram rescues his Lot.
11 Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. 12 They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they were allies with Abram. 14 Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. 15 He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. 16 So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.
Genesis 14:11-16 NKJV
Lot continued to live in Sodom, though it bothered him greatly, 2 Peter makes clear.
Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.
2 Peter 2:8 NLT
Lot was tormented by the evil, and he had been captured and taken prisoner. Why did he stay in Sodom? The reason that makes the most sense to me is his wife wanted to stay. The fact she looked back as Sodom was being destroyed and was turned into a pillar of salt is evidence of this to me.
Righteous Lot offers his virgin daughters to a homosexual mob. I don’t follow his thought process at all.
“See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”
Genesis 19:8 NKJV
Lot didn’t have much credibility with his future sons-in-law.
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.
Genesis 19:14 NKJV
After the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah Lot is afraid to live in Zoar though he has very recent, dramatic proof God will protect him. Then he chooses to get drunk and unknowingly gets his older daughter pregnant. The next night he gets drunk again and gets his younger daughter pregnant, unknowingly.
Righteous Lot. Not perfect Lot, but righteous in God’s eyes. It is nice to know I’m not the only one sick and tired of evil.
O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Psalms 97:10 ESV

3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not know wickedness.
Psalms 101:3-4 NKJV

14 The sinners in Zion are afraid;
Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites:
“Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?
Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?”
15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly,
He who despises the gain of oppressions,
Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes,
Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed,
And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:
16 He will dwell on high;
His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks;
Bread will be given him,
His water will be sure.
Isaiah 33:14-16 NKJV

Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.
2 Peter 2:8 NLT

Righteous Lot. I’m not a Biblical genealogy expert, but it appears that Lot is in Jesus’ bloodline. Lot is the father of the Moabites.
The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.
Genesis 19:37 NKJV
Ruth was a Moabite.
These took Moabite wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth.
Ruth 1:4 ESV
David is her great-grandson.
And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
Ruth 4:17 ESV
David is an ancestor of Jesus.
Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah).
Matthew 1:6 NLT
Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah.
Matthew 1:16 NLT
Righteous Lot. Not perfect, but in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. I’m glad he’s in the Bible. His story gives me hope. 😊
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 NKJV

Jesus is coming very soon. Be ready!
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 NKJV
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
Matthew 24:32-35 NKJV
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:34-36 NKJV
