Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13 NLT

I know it is important to forgive other people. Jesus Himself taught that I must forgive others to have God forgive me.
14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15 NLT
Despite knowing how important it is to forgive others, sometimes I have to really work at it — my sinful flesh loves to hold a grudge. There are two main Scriptures I use to “jumpstart” forgiving someone else when forgiving them is hard. First, I acknowledge my weakness and ask God’s strength in order to forgive them from my heart.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
Second, this wonderful verse from Proverbs helps me put things into perspective. No person can sin against me as much as I sinned against God. All sins of others against me are trivial compared to my sin against God, and He says it is my glory to overlook them.
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11 ESV
Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger, And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]. Proverbs 19:11 AMP
Sometimes I make it a very personal prayer.
It is my GLORY to overlook (whatever I need to forgive)! Prayer based on Proverbs 19:11 ESV
These two Scriptures help me forgive someone from my heart if I’m having trouble forgiving them. If you ever have a resentment against someone, I suggest you try them. 😊

I’ve been thinking about a couple quotes from C. S. Lewis’s The Last Battle, the last book of The Chronicles of Narnia. They are helping me set my mind on things above so I’ll share them. (All seven books are downloadable for free here.)
The setting of both quotes is the New Narnia, corresponding to sinless heaven. Quote one.
Everyone raised his hand to pick the fruit he best liked the look of, and then everyone paused for a second. This fruit was so beautiful that each felt, “It can’t be meant for me … surely we’re not allowed to pluck it.”
“It’s all right,” said Peter. “I know what we’re all thinking. But I’m sure, quite sure, we needn’t. I’ve a feeling we’ve got to the country where everything is allowed.”
“Here goes, then!” said Eustace. And they all began to eat.
What was the fruit like? Unfortunately, no one can describe a taste. All I can say is that, compared with those fruits, the freshest grapefruit you’ve ever eaten was dull, and the juiciest orange was dry, and the most melting pear was hard and woody, and the sweetest wild strawberry was sour. Meditation One:“I’ve a feeling we’ve got to the country where everything is allowed.”
I think this is true, that in heaven I’ll be able to do whatever I want to do, whenever I want. I won’t have any sinful motives, and Holy Spirit will be directing me. Complete freedom to be what I was created to be!

Meditation Two:Heavenly fruit.
Some years ago I had a business trip to Jamaica, an island nation in the Caribbean with a warm climate. The fruit there was incredibly delicious! I asked why I hadn’t seen these fruits in the USA and was told they were too fragile to ship long distances. They were grown and eaten locally. No doubt fruit in heaven will be even better than what I had in Jamaica!
The second quote is from the very last of the book.
Then Aslan turned to them and said: “You do not yet look so happy as I mean you to be.”
Lucy said, “We’re so afraid of being sent away, Aslan. And you have sent us back into our own world so often.”
“No fear of that,” said Aslan. “Have you not guessed?”
Their hearts leaped and a wild hope rose within them.
“There was a real railway accident,” said Aslan softly. “Your father and mother and all of you are—as you used to call it in the Shadow–Lands—dead. The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning.”

Meditation Three:Life is about to begin!
I remember being emotional and teary-eyed the first time I read this. It still affects me. Earth is not my home because I’m a citizen of heaven. My real life will begin when I see Jesus face to face, and will continue getting better and better forever!
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:20-21 ESV
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. I hope these two quote help you set your mind on things above. Also, I suggest you ask God to show you eternal things to come.

I have watched most of Pastor Jimmy Root’s videos the past year but don’t recall ever mentioning him in this blog. I was blessed by his most recent video. If you’re not 100% at peace despite what’s going on in the world I recommend you watch it. He brings out some Greek meaning I didn’t know about. 😊
