It is my habit to begin Bible study reading Psalms 23, and reading and praying Psalms 91. I am always blessed. Psalms 23:5 often reminds me of The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins, and I think about the oil level in my lamp and its accompanying vessel. I want to be ready for the bridegroom when He comes!
Usually some specific promise of protection stands out from this part of Psalms 91. Yesterday it was verse 7, which I put at the top of this post.
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Psalms 91:14 reminds me to check my obedience, because love for God is shown by obedience.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.” Psalm 91:14 NKJV
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him,and We will come to him and make Our home with him.24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; andthe word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” John 14:23-24 NKJV

There is a teaching going around that if you are a Christian who is divorced and remarried, not only will you miss going in the rapture, you will miss heaven. The teachers of this doctrine use several Scriptures, but these are two main ones.
31 “Furthermore it has been said,‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’32 But I say to you thatwhoever divorces his wife for any reason exceptsexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.” Matthew 5:31-32 NKJV
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV
But is divorce and remarriage really the unforgivable sin? Here is the Old Testament law on divorce and remarriage.
“When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, 2 when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s wife,3 if the latter husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his wife, 4 then her former husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the Lord, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.” Deuteronomy 24:1-4 NKJV
Is king David in heaven? Yes, I believe he is.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalms 23:6 NKJV
Yet in my opinion he broke the law on divorce and remarriage. After defeating Goliath David married king Saul’s daughter Michal.
But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was from Gallim. 1 Samuel 25:44 NKJV
David later takes her back, essentially by force IMO.
13 And David said, “Good, I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you: you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see my face.” 14 So David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, saying, “Give me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.” 15 And Ishbosheth sent and took her from her husband, from Paltiel the son of Laish. 2 Samuel 3:13-15 NKJV
I realize the circumstances are different, but it seems to me David broke this part of the law.

Talking with a friend, I realized there is another use for some Scriptures that have spoken to me. Suppose someone says, “I do not understand how a supposedly loving God could allow such evil in the world.” I can reply, “I don’t understand completely either, but I am part of the fight against evil. You can be too.”
Praise is a weapon now and in the future.

I can explain how God will defeat evil, and how happy His children will be when He does.

No one will get away with anything.

Finally, I can explain how there will not be any evil in the new heaven and the new earth.
