LET Peace Rule – God is Working His Plan

Sometimes it is a literal spiritual war for me to control my thoughts.

³For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. ⁴For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. ⁵We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, ⁶being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

LET Peace Rule – Know Essential Bible Prophecy: Where the Righteous and the Wicked Spend Eternity

in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Those God judges unworthy of eternal life will spend eternity in the lake of fire, which is the second death.

¹¹Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. ¹²And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. ¹³And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. ¹⁴Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. ¹⁵And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Taking the mark of the beast is one way to spend eternity in the lake of fire.

⁹And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, ¹⁰he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. ¹¹And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”
Revelation 14:9-11 ESV

So when life gets rough I can think about my eternity, eternal life because of Jesus, and God’s peace rises up in my heart. Thinking about eternal life is part of God’s instruction!

LET Peace Rule – Exchange Burdens

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

To let God’s peace rule in my heart, I have to quit worrying about things over which I have no control, but can only pray about. For example, there are people I care about who seem completely unready to meet God. Yes, I continue to pray for them, but the burden of their state of salvation I must cast on God.

Cast your burden on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved.
Psalms 55:22 ESV

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
Psalms 68:19 NIV

1 Peter 5:6-7

⁶Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, ⁷casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Reading Colossians about a week ago I came to a full-stop on the phrase, “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” I had two strong thoughts.

God really, really, really wants me to have His peace. All the time!
What can I do to let / permit / allow / encourage God’s peace to rule in my heart?

After some meditation, I decided the most important thing I can do to let God’s peace rule in my heart is to understand and believe all Jesus did for me. Here is some applicable Scripture.
