We had communion at church last Sunday. It was my second, as I had had communion by myself early in the morning. Communion at church was good, it was fine, but I noticed my personal communion with the Father and Jesus had been more intimate.
It has taken a long time, with stops and restarts, but taking communion daily has become both very special and very normal. I highly recommend it. See this post for applicable Scripture.
Every day I seek His righteousness, on purpose, by having communion.

“Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8 BSB
Today I was thinking about the part of the verse above, which is the end of Jesus’ Parable of the Persistent Widow. I was wondering what Jesus thinks about my level of faith when I had an, “Oh, duh!” moment. To be full of faith is to be faithful. Faithfulness is what Jesus is looking for.
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you werefaithful over a few things,I will make you ruler over many things. Enter intothe joy of your lord.’” Matthew 25:21 NKJV
Fortunately faithfulness is one of the fruits of the Spirit.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV
So as long as I keep doing the things I believe I should be doing, I’ll be alright. 😊

Hell and Destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied. Proverbs 27:20 NKJV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17 NKJV
If I fixate on things I think I need (but really they are just things I want) I will never be satisfied. Instead I am learning to trust God’s promises that He will take care of me.
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 Butseek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
I need to be thankful and content with His provision.

I need to concentrate on being about the Master’s business.

Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Psalms 126:5 BSB
Jesus got through the crucifixion by focusing on His future joy.
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
We should imitate Jesus.
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV
We can focus on our future joy to get us through whatever is happening. If this promise of being with Jesus forever isn’t a cause for joy, I don’t know what is.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 NKJV
There is coming an eternity of joy and happiness.
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:1-4 NKJV
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalms 16:11 NKJV
If joy is lacking, join the psalmist David and pray.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalms 51:12 NKJV
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalms 30:5 NKJV
Joy also comes through the Word.
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, andthat your joy may be full.” John 15:11 NKJV
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:1-4 NKJV
God’s joy is is our strength!
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV
Trials should be joy too, but I have to admit I’m not 100% on this aspect of joy yet…
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4 NKJV
We do have a very blessed hope, the appearing of Jesus.
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14 NKJV
This hope purifies us!
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 NKJV
Rest in that blessed hope.
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:13-16 NKJV

I interpret many news stories as confirmation of the coming “beast system” in which there is very little freedom.
15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. Revelation 13:15-17 NIV
So I find myself thinking a lot about true freedom. Jesus has set me free from sin.
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you,whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.35 Anda slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:34-36 NKJV
I still have my sinful nature, but someday soon that is going away forever.
50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
And in the endless ages to come I’ll be free to become all God created me to be, and no one else will be able to completely understand how I know God. 😊
