Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 NASB
I started this blog in June 2017 and recently passed 3000 posts. These are my main observations about my blogging experience.
Meditation – I Benefit the Most
I try to write things both helpful and interesting. As a result I have spent many hours rolling Scriptures over in my mind, which is a great blessing. In fact I have not discovered any better way of meditating on the Word of God than trying to write something beneficial to others.
Surprised By the Contents
When I started the blog I thought I would write mostly about unfolding Bible prophecy and what Satan and his ilk are up to in these last days. I’m glad others are writing and making videos about these topics. The insights from God to me mean I have mostly posted encouraging Scriptures, techniques I use to help keep me diligent in prayer and Bible study, and Mind Above – think about eternal things.
The daily Quotes on Photos and Sunrise / Sunset / Flower photos posts aren’t really cheating on the 3000-posts count, if a picture is worth 1000 words. 😉 Every time I’m tempted to quit posting them I get a comment or two about how they’re appreciated. 😊
I am glad this 2017 post is my most viewed post: Prayer for the Unsaved and Backsliders
eNotebook
My blog has become an easily-accessible “electronic notebook.’ I am glad I created a Table of Contents and have kept it updated so I can easily search the post titles. I often look up old posts when writing a new one, and I have sent links to many people. By the way, if you think Romans 13 means we always have to obey the government please consider this post and come to your own conclusions: When Lying is Ok – Updated
To-Do List, “Eating My Own Dog Food”
At various times looking through old posts I realize I had not done something I said I would do. I’m happy to report I now do my warm-ups before Bible study, I have Proverbs for Breakfast, and today I bought a clip board at Walmart to help me work on my Harmony of Paul.
Gaps in Posting
Sometimes there have been weeks between posts. This has given me the opportunity to forgive myself and drive on.
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV
Being Faithful is Full of Faith
“Daily” is a good interval for prayer and Bible study, and blogging has helped keep doing these daily. I long to hear these words.
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’”
Matthew 25:23 NKJV
Jesus is coming very soon. Be ready!
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 NKJV
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
Matthew 24:32-35 NKJV
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:34-36 NKJV
