My son, I am against you, Oh America, for you have not repented of your evil doings! The kings of this nation have led My children far from Me, and now is the time of judgement! Sins of murder, self-pleasure, sodomy, pride, and rebellion have now brought a stinking to My Throne! This nation is Mystery Babylon and will be destroyed in one hour! As the smoke rises from her great cities, all the world will mourn for her, for they too have drunk from the cup of her fornications and sins.

Keep Away From Some People

I noticed a few social media posts where Christians seem a little confused about friendship, and who you should hang around with. I will give a few Bible passages below. You may also want to read these related posts.

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Philadelphia’s Open Door – Harpazó?

For months I have wondered what the open door is that Jesus mentions in the letter to the Philadelphia church, because, frankly, I could use an open door. 😉

Revelation 3:7-13 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Faithful Church

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David,He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. While reading this passage last night it suddenly occurred to me the answer could be just a few verses later, after the letters to the churches.

Revelation 4:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Throne Room of Heaven

4 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

I believe the Bible teaches there is an end-times “event” called the rapture, harpazó in Greek, where God’s saints suddenly disappear from the earth. Harpazó occurs in this passage.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
I Thessalonians 4:15-18 NKJV

Specifically, in verse 17.

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Harpazó also occurs in Revelation 12.

And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

I believe this passage also speaks of the rapture. Notice how similar it is to I Thessalonians 4:15-18 NKJV above.

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
I Corinthians 15:51-53 NKJV

Jesus Himself said to watch and pray to escape!

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Is the open door for the Philadelphia church the rapture? I hope so!

The devil Rules Earth, For Now

After Jesus was baptized, He went into the wilderness, fasted, and was tempted by the devil.

4 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
Luke 4:1-2 NKJV

This temptation makes sense. Jesus was hungry!

3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”

This, too, has to be a temptation for Jesus. The devil offered Jesus a way to avoid dying on the cross.

5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written,‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
Luke 4:5-8 NKJV

If the devil’s claim wasn’t true, Jesus could have quoted a scripture like this.

24 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.
Psalms 24:1-2 NKJV

These Scriptures support the devil’s claim to having authority.

30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
John 12:30-33 NKJV

“I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.”
John 14:30 NKJV

3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

However, the devil doesn’t get to keep his rulership.

15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” 16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying:
“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One who is and who was and who is to come,
Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”

This is the devil’s destiny.

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Have you been delivered from the power of darkness? Are you in Jesus’ kingdom?

Isaiah 40:28-31 in Several Translations

A couple nights ago I read Isaiah 41. Then I backed up a little and read the last few verses of Isaiah 40. I kept reading and reading, and eventually had 6 Bibles open on the table. I’m not sure how long I read these passages over and over and over, but it could have been an hour or more. Here is the Scripture in several translations. I didn’t bold text what spoke especially to me, so you can let the Spirit speak what you especially need. Blessings!

28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

“My Father, Who Art in Heaven”

Many people are familiar with what is commonly called, The Lord’s Prayer, although better names for it are probably The Believers’ Prayer or The Model Prayer. The prayer Jesus prayed (The Lord’s Prayer) is recorded in John 17. 😉 Whatever. Here it is in the New King James Version, with its very important addendum.

9 “In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

I pray this prayer when I first get up, and I use it as a ‘template’ for longer prayers, such as on my half-hour walks. But recently I have been praying in the singular:

My Father in heaven, Abba, Father,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give me this day my daily bread.
And forgive me my debts,
As I forgive my debtors.
And do not lead me into temptation,
But deliver me from the evil one.

I am finding my prayer more personal and intimate. Try it!

2012 Smoky Pictures of the Moon and Sun

With all the smoke in the air from the wildfires in the western USA, people are taking remarkable photos of the sun and moon. In the summer of 2012 I was living in western South Dakota, and thick smoke from Montana fires made for some very eerie photos. These are some of my favorites. 🙂

Suffering causes the righteous to get closer to God, to increase trust in God – though for me it has taken awhile to come to this conclusion, and my testings are nowhere near Job’s and Paul’s. But yes, my sufferings have increased my trust in God. For example, almost a year ago my daughter broke communications with me, and we have had no constructive interactions since. My post of the event has a certain shell-shocked quality: End-Times Families. It was a generally upsetting time. A few days before the incident with my daughter I had written I Didn’t Want to Know I Was This Strong.

All I could do was pray. All I can still do is pray. But the still, small voice has spoken over time through His Word: “Don’t Worry. I got this.” And I made these quoted photos.

My difficulties have increased my trust in God. There was no other option!
