4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 NKJV
32 “Now learnthis parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.33 So you also, when you see all these things, knowthatit is near—at the doors!34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” Matthew 24:32-35 NKJV
34 “Buttake heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down withcarousing, drunkenness, andcares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, andpray always that you maybe countedworthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, andto stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NKJV

34 “Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, 36 but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” Proverbs 8:34-36 ESV

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35 ESV
A simple and effective plan for hearing His Words every day is to – every day – read the chapter of Proverbs that matches the day of the month. Proverbs has 31 chapters, so if it is the 3rd of the month, read the 3rd chapter of Proverbs. If is is the 23rd of the month, read Proverbs 23. If you miss a day or two (or ten), forgive yourself and read the chapter of Proverbs for that day. Forget past failures and drive on!
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV
In January 2019 I started reading the book of Psalms every month. I’m hooked. It is too beneficial a habit for me to stop. 🙂
You might try reading Psalms this month to find out how the discipline blesses you. Here is a plan I came up with to even out the amount to read each day. If you want to download the spreadsheet I used to come up with an even better plan see this post.
All of these Scriptures are becoming more meaningful as I read them every month. 🙂
My favorite photo series. 🙂
Some other Psalms passages.
Jesus is coming very soon. Be ready!
