Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 NKJV
32 “Now learnthis parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.33 So you also, when you see all these things, knowthatit is near—at the doors!34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” Matthew 24:32-35 NKJV
34 “Buttake heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down withcarousing, drunkenness, andcares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, andpray always that you maybe countedworthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, andto stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NKJV
Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2 ESV
I started this blog in June 2017 and yesterday reached the milestone of 6,000 published posts. 😊
Here are a few key reflections.
I Benefit By Blogging
I try to write something helpful at least six times a week. This causes me to pay better attention to my personal Bible study and the messages I hear. For many posts I meditate on what to write for an hour or more before reaching for the keyboard. This discipline is of tremendous value to me spiritually.
Photography Posts
Many of my posts are just photos of sunrises, sunsets, flowers, and Bible quotes on photos. Yet they continue to get positive comments so I’ll continue posting them. Lots of people appreciate snapshots of God’s creation. This was last night’s sunset. 😊
“Spiritual” Posts
When I started blogging I thought the blog would become focused on Bible end-times prophecy. After all, the unfolding prophetic events were one of the key things leading to me becoming a follower of Jesus way back in 1979. But it hasn’t turned out that way. I’ve written few prophetic posts. Instead, it appears to me the major theme of this blog is to encourage others to be faithful in spiritual things.
WordPress 🙁
The IBM PC came out a few months before I graduated from college with a B.S. in Computer Science. I’m retired from a career that involved writing a lot of PC software. In my early days I was always changing the programs to make them “better” but users often felt like “victims” because they had to change how they worked. Eventually I learned their perspective and became very cautious making changes that affected how people used my software.
WordPress, the blogging platform I use, apparently hasn’t learned this lesson. Four times they have made major “upgrades” that made me change how I write blog posts. One upgrade proved beneficial to me but three of upgrades made my blogging harder. WordPress also makes smaller changes fairly frequently, and the ones I really notice make my blogging harder.
There are posts I cannot copy and update because WordPress removed basic functionality. 😢
I wish I had chosen a different blogging platform. They may not have been any better than WordPress over these years but I doubt they could have been worse.
I’ll Keep Blogging
So I’ll keep blogging because it does me good. Hopefully I’m not the only one. 😊
Jesus is coming very, very soon. Be ready!

13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:13-16 ESV
